Indianisation of the superior Civil Services became one of the main demands of the political movement to force the government of British India to consider setting a Public Service Commission for recruitment of its services in the territory. The first Public Service Commission was established on October 1, 1926. However, its advisory functions not limited to meet the aspirations of the people and the continued pressure in this respect by the leaders of our freedom movement resulted in the creation of the Federal Public Service Commission under the Government of India Act 1935. Under this law, for the first time, also arranged for the formation of Public Service Commissions at the provincial level.
