The campus of the Jawaharlal Nehru University is a microcosm of the Indian nation, drawing students from all over the country and all groups and strata of society. To ensure that this is so, annual admission tests are simultaneously held at 37 centers spread across the country, and special care is taken to draw students from disadvantaged castes and ethnic groups, to reserve 22.5 percent of seats for them. Foreign students make up about 10 percent of annual consumption. student and staff residences apartment blocks intermingle with each other, highlighting the vision of a large Indian family.
