The university began postgraduate education and research of the session 1966-67 with the creation of Schools of Studies in Botany and Zoology. The Schools of Studies in Physics, Chemistry and Ancient History, Archaeology and Culture started from the session 1969-70. The School of Studies in Economics and Mathematics came into existence in the session 1978-79, the School of Commerce began the session 1980-81 and Biochemistry of the session 1986-87. The University also started MBA course at the School of Studies in Commerce from the session of 1987 during the VII plan period in the School of Library and Information Science was established in 1986. Under the plan VIII development program of the University has established the School of Earth Sciences in 1991.
