The Indian Institute of Technology (popularly known as ITI) are institutions of national importance due to an Act of Parliament to promote excellence in education. There are currently fifteen IITs, located in Bhubaneswar, Bombay (Mumbai), New Delhi, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras (Chennai), Mandi, Patna, Punjab, Rajasthan and Roorkee. In the IITs years have created world-class educational platforms sustained dynamics through internationally recognized research, based on an infrastructure facility. The teachers and students of IIT keep doing great impact on all sectors of society, both in India and abroad. Institute of Technology Banaras Hindu University (IT-BHU), Varanasi and Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, is the oldest institutions in India and are known for their immense contribution to society in general and the science and technology in particular.
