Sri Krishnadevaraya University began in the Postgraduate Centre of Sri Venkateswara University in 1968. It has gained autonomy in 1976. Fulfilling the wishes of the people of the region, the autonomous Post Graduate Center was given the status of the University in 1981. Initially, Sri Krishndevaraya University functioned as a single residential university. Status is granted membership of the University in 1987. At present, is to meet the needs of higher education in the districts of Anantapur and Kurnool income.
