The University Karnataka State Women, Bijapur, established in August 2003 is the only university in the state of Karnataka, India., Dedicated exclusively to the education of women. The university is dedicated to promoting excellence through academic achievement, research, creativity, innovation, interaction and collaboration, development of personality and leadership qualities. The main focus is on empowering women through education, especially higher education and training. The university is located in the Bijapur district and schools of all women in 12 districts of northern Karnataka many of which are among the poor and backward districts of Karnataka are affiliated to it. The location of the university in Bijapur is aimed at reducing regional disparities in the state of Karnataka
