Jiwaji University was established as a teaching affiliation and the University of the May 23, 1964, under the provisions of MP Government Ordinance no. 15, 1963. Dr. Sarwapalli Radhakrishanan, then President of India, laid the foundation stone of the University Campus on December 11, 1964.
