Two hundred years ago, on July 10, 1806, Indian sepoys rose in a bloody revolt against the lining of the East India Company in Fort Vellore. As screams and gunfire pierced the quiet, the sepoys shot the English officers, fired at the European headquarters, leaving fourteen officers and 100 soldiers dead. Fatteh Hyder, first son Tipu Sultan, who was jailed alongside the Taj Tipu Tipu's family inside the fortress, was perceived as one of the key architects of the rebellion.
