Jiwaji University was established as a teaching and membership of the University on May 23, 1964, under the provisions of MP Government Ordinance no. 15, 1963. Dr. Sarwapalli Radhakrishanan, the then President of India, laid the foundation stone of the City University on 11 December 1964.
