The enhanced visibility of the MCC Allahabad demand to host the new university was being planned to relieve the University of Calcutta of the burden of supervision of education in northern and central India and to address the needs education in the region under its special flavor cultural and social conditions. Allahabad University took over the University of Calcutta a wide territorial jurisdiction today that the States of Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan and Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Through its subsidiaries of universities, the University and teaching graduate and postgraduate always (since 1890) the opportunities for research in the Faculties of Arts, Sciences and Law, and later established the Faculty of Engineering ( in 1896, for a short time), Medicine (in1911, but the College was dissolved in 1921, in the transmission of King George's Medical College, Lucknow) and Trade (1913). The University also was responsible for conducting the Matriculation (High School) and intermediate examinations in the vast territory assigned to it until 1921, when this function was assigned to the newly created Boards of Secondary Education in UP and other provinces.
