The name of the college was renamed to Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University in 1989 to commemorate the memory of a statesman, leader of the country, the son of the soil Shri Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, and later established as the Central University under the provision Central Bank Universities Ordinance, 2009, No. 3 of 2009 published in Gazette of India Extraordinary Part II, Section I, New Delhi, January 15, 2009. Our university is one of the ten largest universities in the country with three campuses and more than 180 affiliated colleges and institutions (both state / help and self-financed) and analysis of more than 150,000 students annually, providing higher education services in 7 of the 13 Districts of the State of Uttaranchal.
